Having recently turned 50 years old, I'm reflecting on many things. Here's one that I've been thinking about personally and professionally ...
What got you here ... may not get you there!
This is true in so many situations.
What got me "here" in leadership, may not get me "there" in leadership!
What got me "here" in my parenting, may not get me "there" in parenting.
What got our church "here" may not get our church "there."
Things change - culture changes - so I must be willing to change!
I've learned some things. But it's tempting to believe after fifty years - or even five years - that I've learned all I need to learn. I realize that I must be willing to learn new skills, I must be prepared to adjust my approach. The solutions that worked to get "here" may not be the ones that will get me "there."
So - I'm committed to learning - even at fifty! Because I still want to get "there" - I don't want to be stuck "here" for the rest of my life!
What about you?
What got you here - and what will it take to get you there?

Good to hear, brother! Have you read "Mentor Like Jesus" by Regi Campbell? Just finished it over break and if you haven't as of yet, I want to share it with you. I thought of you as I read it MANY times and your desire at 50 to be even more diligent about learning and developing others.
