Foolish Wisdom

On this day when many seek to "fool" others, consider these words regarding true foolishness and the wisdom of God ...

1 Corinthians 1:21
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Proverbs 3:35
The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame.

And I also think one of the great quotes of modern Christianity was given by a wise young man who gave his life so others might know the wisdom of God ...

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
- Jim Elliot

May we all be truly wise on this day of foolishness!
