O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing!

Yesterday was Easter - the original Opening Day! We had a great day of celebration at Sonrise Church! On Palm Sunday we had 998 in worship - so my prayer last week was that of the Wesley hymn ...

O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing My Great Redeemer's Praise!
The glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace!

My gracious Master and my God, Assist me to proclaim,
To spread through all the earth abroad the honors of Thy name.

Jesus! The name that chamrs our fears, that bids our sorrows cease;
'Tis music in the sinner's ears, 'Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.

He speaks and listening to His voice, New life the dead receive,
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice, the humble poor believe.

Glory to God, and praise and love be ever, ever given,
By saints below and saints above, The church in earth and heaven.

The Lord is good ... we had 1,115 at Sonrise in two locations - even though it was the beginning of "Spring Break" for our schools! (Oh, For 1,115 Tongues to Sing!)

I preached on the story of Jesus' resurrection appearance to Simon Peter in John 21 and the fact that we serve a God of "Second Chances" - a theme I will continue next week with a series on Jonah. Here's the good news ... God's mercy trimphs over our mistakes. We are Easter People!

LORD,

I'm humbled by your amazing grace, which is greater than our guilt - you are a God whose forgiveness overcomes our failures - a God of Second Chances!
