Feed the Seed!

While I noted in my recent reflections on sowing seed that the growth does not depend on me, the truth is - seeds won't grow without nourishment! Neither will people! It still doesn't depend on me - but I can help!

For the last few weeks, we've had very little rain in this part of God's creation (northeast Indiana) - so little that much of that seed I scattered has not yet taken root! I wondered why and so I called my friend who is an "expert" in seed growth - and he suggested that it probably just needed water!!

SO - for the last few days, we've been watering the seed - and guess what ... it is growing! It is amazing what happens when you "nourish" the "seed" - duh!

To be honest - I have enjoyed "feeding the seed" with water - there's something of a special joy that comes in knowing you are contributing to new growth! That's one of the things I love about being a pastor as well. I love "planting seeds" of faith in people - and watching them grow!

I don't know about you - but I'm reminded that when we "feed" the "seed" of God's Word in our lives - it will grow in us! And we can help it grow in others!

May we all "grow up" into Him!

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only GOd, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor." - 1 Corinthians 3:6-8 (NIV)
