As a nation today we mark the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his courageous principled leadership of the civil rights movement in our country. At the core of "The Dream" was the heart of a pastor who was deeply thoughtful and filled with passionate conviction.
"We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men does not remain at flood -- it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is adamant to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words, "Too late."
May we all join Dr. King with a sense of "the fierce urgency of now" to do justice, love mercy and walk humble with our God! (Micah 6:8)

I stumbled upon your blog while wasting a bit of time over a second cup of coffee....and I'm glad I did. As the mother of two multi-racial children, Dr. King's speech has a very special place in my heart and life - it is so much more than just words.
I also liked something you said in another blog about each day being unique...I like that. May have to chew on that one for a while.
Keep writing....I plan to stop by for a visit again.
